I was in prison...

The Committee on Witness to Society and the World (CWSW) invites you to respond to Jesus' words by joining the Project Connect Prison Visit Team. The team visits men incarcerated in New York State prisons as part of the Project Connect Program of the Church of Gethsemane. This program builds and nurtures relationships with persons who are incarcerated. Prison Visit Team members commit to participating in an orientation meeting plus one day of visiting Project Connect Members in nearby New York State prisons including Sing Sing and Green Haven. Minister Chibueze Okorie coordinates the team and leads the visits. This effort is one of the first steps in the Presbytery of New York City's response to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s Freedom Rising Initiative to address some of the most pressing problems affecting African American males. Project Connect and the Prison Visit Team seek to reduce recidivism. To volunteer, or find out more information contact Dave Ehlke, a member of CWSW at Dave.ehlke@gmail.com.
